STEM@Graveney with TILT Engineers
On Wednesday 6th December Tilt engineering consultants brought their whole company of eight engineers to present workshops to year nine girls and A-level Physics students.
They took part in concurrent sessions to learn about engineering in the rail industry. Students learned about what an engineer is, career opportunities and the best subjects and degrees to study to become an engineer. Students in the A-level session then designed a pantograph which connects electric trains to the overhead power lines. We had some really interesting designs made in a very short time.
The year nine girls conducted some problem solving tasks to show the skills engineers use in their jobs. Feedback from the students was great and the engineers were really impressed with our students and look forward to seeing them in engineering jobs in the future.
